Design Brief

Design
Design Brief
I am going to create an aesthetically pleasing poster for the upcoming X-Factor event organized by Ms Daykin. I will have to know where and when the event is going to take place, if Ms Daykin has any particular wishes for the poster’s function, appearance, content, size or material and I will have to know how to use Microsoft Office Publisher for the designing of the poster.
My goal is to make the X-Factor event a great success. All of the school should be there because of what they read on my posters around the school.
The customers who need to be pleased are Ms Daykin, students, and perhaps also parents. Ms Daykin will want to include specific info on the posters and I will have to fulfill her wishes. Also, it’s very important that the posters include all of the information that students (and parents) will want to know in order to accommodate them.
Some constraints that I may encounter could include the unstable internet access, printing problems, program insecurities or uncertain requirements.

My poster must be informative, captivating, entertaining, aesthetically pleasing, neat, legible, clear, organized, and of course persuasive.

Limits (must not)
Function
Appearance
Content
Materials
Size
Must not confuse the reader because what is important is that the reader, as soon as he/reads the poster, knows what to do
Must not look as if all the info is piled up because no one would ever read a poster with chunks of writing
Must not include inappropriate images because the audience has a certain age and because it must relate
Must not be easy to tear down because people walk around and might unintentionally rip it which would make it less "watchable"
Must not be smaller than A3 because if not it wouldn't be appropriate
Must not dissuade people from going to the X-Factor event since the purpose of the poster is exactly to persuade people to go to the event
Must not be untidy because it simply wouldn't be aesthetically pleasing
Must not include inappropriate text because the audience has a certain age and because it must relate
Must not be hand-made (e.g. acrylics, pencils, paint) because it wouldn't look professional
Must not be bigger than A0 if not it's just disproportionate
Must not be out of theme because, not only it confuses the reader, but makes the poster senseless
Must not have too much text because no one would ever read a poster with chunks of writing
Must not include inappropriate messages because the audience has a certain age and because it must relate
Must not have 3D materials because they are uncomfortable
Must not be squared because it isn't an ideal poster shape

Must not reveal too much on the event because the element of surprise is always appreciated

Must not have small-sized fonts because it would be impossible for the reader to read the poster

Could make you want to bring other friends/family members to the event to have a bigger audience and as prove that the poster worked

Could include X-Factor logo so that the reader would see a logo of something they already saw and know what the poster is about immediately
Could be plasticized so that it would shine and would be resistant as well as water proof

Could include ISM logo since it is where the event takes place and who sponsors it
Could be framed to make it look more artistic
